Sasha and Chad first met at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Contemporaries in the design world, their shared passion and similar approach to the industry inspired them to work together. He wanted to bring that familiar showroom experience into his home. A &#8220;huge fan of Scalamandr\u00e9, old world weavers, and all of Chad&#8217;s products,&#8221; Sasha was on board with the concept from the start.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"rebelltitem3\" class=\"rebellt-item col1\" data-basename=\"iconic-patterns\" data-href=\"https:\/\/beyondthebeige.theinside.com\/inside-the-home-of-scalamandres-president-2633518894.html?rebelltitem=3#rebelltitem3\" data-id=\"3\" data-is-image=\"True\" data-reload-ads=\"false\">\n<h3>ICONIC PATTERNS<\/h3>\n<div class=\"share-tab-img share-buttons share-trigger\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-439\" src=\"https:\/\/theinside.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/iconic_patterns-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The kitchen highlights Bikoff&#8217;s deft mix of the Scalamandre &#8220;Zebra&#8221; and Iris and Carl Apfel&#8217;s &#8220;Midas Touch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Genevieve Garruppo, Courtesy of Sasha Bikoff<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most important aspect of design for me is&#8230;knowing who your client is,&#8221; remarks Bikoff. &#8220;You need a deep understanding of who they are, what they are passionate about, and what they love in life&#8221; so that you can synthesize that inspiration and create something they can&#8217;t yet imagine for themselves. To achieve this, Bikoff turned to iconic Scalamadr\u00e9 patterns (like the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinside.com\/collections\/the-inside-x-scalamandre?utm_source=btb&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=chadstark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zebras<\/a>) in modern and unexpected colorways.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"rebelltitem4\" class=\"rebellt-item col1\" data-basename=\"mountain-chic\" data-href=\"https:\/\/beyondthebeige.theinside.com\/inside-the-home-of-scalamandres-president-2633518894.html?rebelltitem=4#rebelltitem4\" data-id=\"4\" data-is-image=\"True\" data-reload-ads=\"false\">\n<h3>MOUNTAIN CHIC<\/h3>\n<div class=\"share-tab-img share-buttons share-trigger\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-444\" src=\"https:\/\/theinside.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/mountain_chic-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sasha brought the outdoors inside with touches like elk and moose horn.<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Genevieve Garruppo, Courtesy of Sasha Bikoff<\/p>\n<p>Having worked with Stark for a few years, the designer understood both his love for the outdoors and his ties to New York. &#8220;I think most designers would probably see Chad as a business guy and create a predictable monotonous modern male interior for him, but men have personalities too. They have goals and dreams for their interiors. When she discovered that Midas Touch\u2014an archival fabric by Iris and Carl Apfel\u2014was out of print, she pulled it from the showroom wall and claimed it for the project. She ended up using it on the bar stools, which steal the show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"rebelltitem7\" class=\"rebellt-item col1\" data-basename=\"new-world-weavers\" data-href=\"https:\/\/beyondthebeige.theinside.com\/inside-the-home-of-scalamandres-president-2633518894.html?rebelltitem=7#rebelltitem7\" data-id=\"7\" data-is-image=\"True\" data-reload-ads=\"false\">\n<h3>NEW WORLD WEAVERS<\/h3>\n<div class=\"share-tab-img share-buttons share-trigger\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-448\" src=\"https:\/\/beyondthebeige.theinside.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/new_world_weavers-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"724\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Le Tigre velvet and Zebras, both iconic Scalamandre designs.<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Genevieve Garruppo, Courtesy of Sasha Bikoff<\/p>\n<p>Stark and Bikoff both wanted to incorporate iconic Scalamandr\u00e9 fabrics like Le Tigre and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinside.com\/collections\/the-inside-x-scalamandre?utm_source=btb&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=chadstark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zebras<\/a>. Although designers often use the iconic zebras in red, Bikoff selected the blue as a nod to the outdoors and the sky.
