Pantone Color of the Year: Behind the Scenes

For the past two decades, Pantone’s Color of the Year has played a vital role in the design world. This year’s color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, is a timeless and enduring hue that is equal parts simple as it is elegant. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of Classic Blue offers the promise of protection, a sense of peace and tranquility, and a stimulating quality that helps us look beyond the obvious. As part of this year’s Color of the Year unveiling, Pantone partnered with us to develop a custom fabric, Dusk, to embody the tactile manifestation of the color. We also developed two additional fabrics that were inspired by the qualities of Classic Blue. All three prints celebrate and explore a unique aspect of the hue and are available for a limited time.
